Most of my writing has been for newspapers, but magazine is my favorite medium and where I hope to find a career. I love long-form writing and the potential it allows. Personal profiles are my favorite, as I enjoy spending time with people, getting to know them and having the opportunity to introduce them and tell their stories through the written word.
My clips include a range of features, hard news, advances and reviews.

225 Magazine June cover story: Follow Me
"A new language is invading Baton Rouge. There's no Rosetta Stone for it—whether that means a Ptolemaic carving or a software program. It has no translations, and it's not even communicated verbally. It concerns a once-whispered subculture, an undercurrent of local commentary, creativity and, at times, consternation. And it is growing louder every day." Read the rest here. Legacy Magazine (LSU's student magazine) Spring 2012: School's Out
"Two hundred pairs of eyes are fixed on Laurie Chancey. She's teaching Introduction to Sociology to a room full of students who hold a degree she doesn't." Read the rest here. |
LSU Alumni Magazine Spring 2013 cover story: The LSU Ring
"Less than 24 hours after LSU defeated Mississippi State by a 20-point margin, defensive end Sam Montgomery beamed as he looked down at his finger." Read the rest here. Legacy Magazine (LSU's student magazine) Spring 2012: Fad Diets
"Whether it's a New Year's resolution, spring break or no occasion at all, students are often eager to shed some pounds to look and feel better." Read the rest here. |
